At every Ramapo event, ranging from Friday night football games under the lights to the cold gymnasium for basketball tip-off, there is one person you can always count on to see: Dylan Seide. Dylan has become a staple on the Ramapo sidelines with his incredible photography skills and positive attitude.
With graduation only a few weeks away, Dylan will be leaving his mark on the whole Ramapo community. No matter where you were at a game, you could always see Dylan and everyone laughing around him as he captured the moment.
Dylan started his photography career right here at Ramapo, by taking digital photography here as a freshman, and truly found his passion for being behind the camera. He then worked on making a well-known business that everyone here knows and supports, called Seidevisuals. So many people inside and outside the school have been there to support him. Seide stated, “I’d like to specifically recognize a few: teachers/coaches—Mrs. Ferro, Mrs. Desai, Mr. Cole, Mrs. Robinson, Mr. Occhipinti, Mrs. Higbie, Mrs. Migliacci, Mrs. Eustice, Mr. Miller, and Mrs. Matcovich; Coach Vier, Coach Guttuso, Coach Resto, Coach Harvey, and fellow peers—Brandon Carrol, Danny Poppe, and Henry Horgan. I also want to add: my Father and the rest of my family. If your name isn’t listed, please know I’m grateful for you as well.”
All of these people have helped and encouraged Dylan to reach his full potential and become someone that everyone knows and loves. People will always remember him being on the sidelines and enjoying the moment with him.
There have been tons of moments that Dylan has been a part of capturing. While he could not pick a favorite moment, he explained, “ I will always treasure my time with the Ramapo Football team—sitting on the sidelines during packed Friday nights and riding the bus to Rutgers for the state championship.”
He has also been a part of the Student Government, helping manage things from behind the scenes. When Mrs. Ferro was asked about the impact she had noticed that Dylan had, she explained, “Dylan has really put himself out there to help our sports teams and activities highlight the great things happening at Ramapo. He is always willing to show up and take photos or create a video, and he often comes up with additional creative ideas to make the project even better. His legacy is all around us.”
Fellow photographer Vk, who has worked alongside Dylan, stated, “Dylan’s been like a mentor to me; he’s taught me nearly everything I know about photography itself. The minute I got into photography, he reached out offering to help me, and he is a big part of the type of photographer I am today.”
While he might be leaving, his legacy and the sparks for young photographers he has inspired will remain. The most important message he leaves is this: “Believe in yourself and embrace your unique perspective. There will be days of doubt, but even the greatest creators started somewhere. Greatness comes through persistence, not perfection. Your journey is yours alone, and your vision is powerful. The world needs your voice, your passion, and your art. Share boldly, celebrate your progress, and keep practicing. You are already enough. Stay true to yourself and let your passion shine.”
Dylan moves on from high school to college, where he plans to continue his videography and photography business at Rollins College. Dylan has left a massive legacy that many young photographers will be able to follow. He hopes that anyone with this passion will realize that “Greatness is built through persistence, not perfection.” Everyone has ups and downs, and you have to not let those bad moments affect your passion. Dylan has embodied what it means to be there for everyone and to have the desire to make something out of what you love.
