Alexis Ulmer has been an integral member of the Ramapo choir since she arrived as a freshman, bringing her enthusiasm and passion for music to the school. As an alto, she plays a vital role in the choir’s overall sound, skillfully balancing the harmony and ensuring that the unique qualities of each vocal part shine through. Her ability to blend seamlessly with others creates a wonderful cohesion that elevates the choir’s performances. In an interview with sophomore, Colin Anderson, he states, “Having Lexi in choir is great because she’s always positive and supportive. She helps make rehearsals more fun, and her enthusiasm makes everyone around her enjoy being there.”
What stands out about her is her ability to maintain the natural tone of her voice. As a singer, it can be immensely difficult to not imitate the sound or performance of someone else doing the same song, but Lexi’s tone is unique. She is a true leader on and off the stage, singing the parts that fit her best, and creating different variations of a song that arguably sound better than before.
When asked what she’ll miss most about choir, Alexis replied, “Choir has been one of the most rewarding parts of my school experience. I’ve loved making music with such talented people. What I’ll miss most is the friendships, the performances, and the feeling of everyone coming together to create something special.” Her heartfelt words are a testament to her years of commitment to the arts, participating in every single fall play and spring musical at Ramapo since her freshman year, resulting in 8 total shows.
Over the years, she has not only contributed her exceptional vocal talent but has also emerged as a key figure in fostering a supportive and collaborative atmosphere within the choir, making it a truly enriching experience for everyone involved. Ramapo choir teacher, Mrs. Reitter, stated, “Whether it’s onstage or on the choir risers, Lexi is an incredible storyteller. Her ability to connect with a character or a song is so genuine, in part because she’s such a kind-hearted person. She goes out of her way to make others feel welcome in class, and lifts others up.”
Alexis plans to further her career in singing and acting at Sacred Heart University, majoring in theater. Ramapo wishes her good luck in all her future endeavors, and we’ll all miss her dearly.
