Sunrise on the Reaping is said to be one of the most anticipated movies of 2026. With it being a movie adaptation of the prequel to the already prestigious Hunger Games series, as well as containing some of the most well-known and up-and-coming actors, it is bound to be a hit. The original trilogy followed District 12 tributes who were chosen to fight in an annual fight-to-the-death game alongside other tribute pairs from the other districts. The District 12 tributes were mentored by a man named Haymitch Abernathy, the only ever District 12 Hunger Games winner. Author of The Hunger Games series, Suzanne Collins, first released the book Sunrise on the Reaping on March 18th, 2025, alongside the announcement that a movie would be produced and released shortly after. Cult followers of The Hunger Games erupted with excitement and anticipation for these releases. Haymitch Abernathy will be played by Australian actor Joseph Zada, previously seen in 2025 Prime Video‘s hit series, We Were Liars. One name bound to be known from their cast is McKenna Grace, playing Maysilee Donner. She is an astounding actor, having held over 80 roles in films and shows since she was a child.
