Spring gives us a lot of reasons to be excited. Whether it’s warm weather creeping in, or cherry blossom trees finally blooming, or most of all – seeing the Coachella lineup come to life. Coachella 2026’s lineup had fans booming with excitement since its release last September.
A whopping 500,000 festivalgoers came to the Colorado Desert in Southern California for both weekends to see their favorite artists, and they looked good doing it (Grand Pinnacle Tribune). Some trending looks for the famous festival this year included a mix of western-boho styles, as well as some Y2K inspired outfits (T-fashion). Coachella is known for being a bit of a fashion experiment. In past years, the outfits have taken more of a costume-like approach with heavy statement jewelry, exaggerated tassels, and different variations of space buns (Coachella.com).
This year, however, the outfits did not revolve around one specific aesthetic. The 2026 outfits were curated with more intentional silhouettes and light layering as an effective way to create more complex outfits (T-Fashion). The classic Boho aesthetic is still a prevalent element for the desert music scene as it coincides perfectly with Coachella’s natural western climate. However the 2026 trends involve more minimalism and leave room for intentional outfits. Senior Eva Mellas, who is majoring in Fashion Media at Fordham University, shares her opinions on the outfits of Coachella 2026: “Sometimes I feel like there’s no originality with the outfits. A lot of the time, I notice people copy popular influencers.”
While the style was exceptional this year, nothing compares to the excitement regarding the return of “Bieber Fever.” This year, the top three artists headlining Coachella included Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Karol G (NPR). Sabrina Carpenter fans were amazed by the live debuts of some of her songs from her latest album, Man’s Best Friend. Top charting songs such as “We Almost Broke Up Again Last Night” and “Sugar Talking” had fans starstruck (NPR). Sabrina Carpenter has had the media obsessed with her trendy style and popular song lyrics since her album’s release last September. The live performances of her songs at the festival fueled her fans’ love even more.
However, no headliner had fans in a chokehold quite like the return of Justin Bieber. According to the Los Angeles Times, Bieber’s long awaited performance involved him sitting behind a laptop and singing alongside his old music videos (Los Angeles Times). Some fans were disappointed in Bieber’s week one performance as he delivered a more karaoke-like set. However, fans were awed by Bieber’s week two performance with higher audience engagement and confidence through the roof. Fans lost it when artist Billie Eilish, who herself has an intense case of Bieber Fever, joined Bieber on stage for his hit song “One Less Lonely Girl” (USA Today). Coachella 2026 offered some nostalgic throwbacks, but also left room for artists to tap into their creativity.
Festivalgoers such as senior Alexa D’Avanzo greatly appreciated the variety of art and creativity that Coachella has to offer. “I loved Coachella because there was so much to enjoy, from fantastic music and art installations to authentic food and people’s creative outfits,” she commented.
Coachella 2026 has proved again that it is more than just a music festival, but a cultural moment from influencers, to super-fans.
