Bridgerton is back with a new season and this time it is Benedict Bridgerton’s story taking center stage. Inspired by the classic Cinderella tale, the season grabs the readers with the blend of fairytale romance and forbidden love. Fans of the show have been specifically interested in Benedict’s season as his wild card persona in the past left them wondering if he would ever find his love match like his siblings. While new beginnings are unfolding, there was also a surprise to many viewers when beloved character storylines came to an end.
The character, Sophie Baeck, Benedict’s love interest, is a young woman from the lower ranks of society. The show has yet to have this sort of dynamic and it was something that viewers were very interested to see play out. According to Rolling Stone, “While past seasons of Bridgerton have all included some kind of will-they-won’t-they tension on their main characters’ paths to love, the class divide gives Season Four actual stakes.” By creating more risks in the plot, the show kept viewers on their toes, wondering whether the couple will really end up together like in previous seasons. Amelia Remo, a sophomore at Ramapo and a fan of Bridgerton agrees, adding, “I have always been a fan of the show and this season really lived up to its expectations. The plot was really good and wasn’t really like anything I’ve seen before.” This season’s love dynamic has surely been a hit among the fans and only caused more excitement for the future of Bridgerton.
Although the season ended with a lot of unanswered questions, the most burning question remains: who is the new Lady Whistledown? What viewers do know is that the character, John Stirling, Francesca’s love interest, will not be returning in Season 5 after his sudden passing from an aneurysm in his sleep. Fans might also not see the beloved character Lady Danbury, as she has officially broken free from her role in the higher society and will begin traveling to revisit her roots. However, she could make an appearance in the fifth season depending on which Bridgerton child will be up next. According to ScreenRant, “[…] the franchise will shift its focus to the next Bridgerton sibling for Season 5, and all signs currently point to Eloise.” A student here at Ramapo, Sara Cays, has a very similar opinion, stating, “I just know that Eloise will be next. I mean it lines up with the books, so it has to be her.”
No matter which child is up next to find their forever love, the fans will surely be keeping up with the Bridgerton family.
