iHeartRadio had its annual Jingle Ball in New York City on Friday, December 12th. The show was performed at the iconic NYC venue Madison Square Garden and featured performances by famous artists such as Alex Warren, BigXthaPlug, Conan Gray, Ed Sheeran, Jessie Murph, Laufey, Monsta X, Myles Smith, Nelly, Ravyn Lenae, Reneé Rapp, and Zara Larsson, as well as a KPOP Demon Hunters sing-along (msg.com). It has also been reported that a special guest appearance was made by a newly popular music artist, Freya Sky, who gained fame earlier in the year for her role in the newest Zombies movie.
Tickets for these shows are often costly due to the volume of artists performing and the length of the concert, which typically lasts from four to five hours. The demand for these concerts is often extremely high as well with ticket prices souring to thousands of dollars. (newyorktheatreguide.com). Cooper Fishman, a sophomore at Ramapo High School, has been to the Jingle Ball four times over the years and stated, “Jingle Ball is always such a good time. It’s never a boring night.”
At the release of this year’s Jingle Ball lineup, there was a great amount of speculation across the media about whether or not this year’s show would actually be worthwhile. Many argued that the artist line up was not as good as in previous years and did not contain as many big names or top hits. A teacher at Ramapo, Mrs. Manzo disagreed stating, “Z100 has hosted Jingle Ball since the ‘90s and has always pulled together an impressive set of musical stars for the event.” Regardless of this controversy, many were extremely excited for the concert and felt that the lineup was adequate, but was just catered more towards younger crowds. This year’s Jingle Ball seems to be another success as many cannot wait for next year’s event!
