Sabrina Carpenter recently spent five consecutive sold-out nights at the famous Madison Square Garden in New York, New York. These concerts were part of her second Short n’ Sweet Tour leg. Vanessa Collazzi, a student at Ramapo, went to the first leg of shows at the Barclays Center and said, “It was an amazing show…It was a night I will never forget.” She played October 26th, 28th, 29th, 31st–which was Halloween–and November 1st (Ticketmaster). For Sabrina, this was a major career milestone and really solidified her place in the pop music industry. Many were skeptical when the tour dates came out, but she proved them wrong by completely selling out all five nights (Parade). Fans were ecstatic to see their favorite singer on the MSG stage once again.
These shows featured numerous new outfits and a unique bodysuit for each night. On night one, October 26th, she wore a navy blue bodysuit with a New York skyline bedazzled on the front. The next night, she wore a bodysuit with black and white polka dots and a New York taxi-inspired two-piece. On Night Three, she wore a silver bedazzled bodysuit with rhinestoned red kiss marks, one of her signature symbols. On Night Five, she concluded with an all-silver bodysuit with a heart cut-out. Her Halloween show, though, may have had some of the best outfits. She wore three different costumes, starting with a Wonder Woman outfit, an outfit inspired by the live-action Barbie movie, and finally a Wilma Flintstone costume (Bazaar). For her final night at MSG, she debuted a newspaper print bodysuit. Emma Bryce, a student at Ramapo who attended the concert, stated, “When she came out, I knew her bodysuit would be gorgeous. I loved it so much and had such an amazing night.”
At each night of her tour, she keeps the setlist the same, except for one song, known on the Internet as a “surprise song,” which is determined by a bottle spin. On Night One, the surprise song was “Go-Go Juice”; on Night Two, she covered “Mamma Mia” by ABBA; on Night Three, she played “Nobody’s Son”; on Halloween, she played “Barbie Girl” by Aqua; and on Night Five, she sang “Couldn’t Make It Any Harder” (Capital). She, as well as many other artists, has started using “surprise songs” to keep each night unique.
The stage backdrop features a house-like setup that she explores throughout her concert. Through these shows, Sabrina Carpenter has demonstrated her talents as an exceptional performer and has proven that she deserves her place in the music industry.
