Alyssa Del Valle is making (sound) waves at Ramapo High School. As a member of the Ramapo choir and Gold Masque, Alyssa is most well-known for singing the national anthem at pep rallies. She has proudly done this since her freshman year, and has always done an outstanding job. “Hearing my school cheer, shout my name, and support me as I sing is the best feeling in the world,” she commented. “It reminds me that music connects people and gives me the strength to keep sharing my voice.”
Outside of Ramapo, Alyssa has performed the national anthem at Madison Square Garden, received a callback from The Voice, and acted in a dramatic film. “I love performing, and every experience has helped me grow as an artist and as a person,” she remarked. Not only does she pour her soul into every performance, she is also very technically in tune. “Alyssa can sing almost any style of music (pop, musical theatre, classical, choral, showtunes, etc.) with a sense of ease and nuance,” choir director Mrs. Reitter praised. “Her voice is incredibly versatile, and she knows how and when to employ different techniques to alter her sound.”
For Alyssa, singing both inspires and empowers her. As a natural storyteller, she takes pleasure in using singing to express her emotions and creativity. “I sing because many people don’t have a voice, and I want to be that voice — offering inspiration, comfort, and light,” she added. This is a talent that she has curated through the help of her choir teachers: Mrs. Melchor in elementary school, Mrs. Savery in middle school, and Mrs. Reitter in high school.
After graduating, Alyssa hopes to pursue a career in either singing and songwriting, acting, or journalism. She also hopes to create her own marketing and media business. To novice singers, Alyssa encourages them to stay true to themselves. She emphasizes the importance of learning to personally connect to the music and trust. “Don’t try to sound like anyone else,” she advised. “More importantly, never let anyone or anything stop you from chasing your dreams.”
