As everyone has likely heard, the famous couple, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, have gotten engaged! In the words of Jason Kelce on his and his brother’s podcast, New Heights, Taylor Swift is, in summary, a “…singer, songwriter, producer, and director…She is from Reading, Pennsylvania. She is the most awarded artist in the history of the American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and iHeartRadio Music Awards. She has 14 Grammys and is the only artist in history to win Album of the Year four times. Last December, she wrapped up The Eras Tour, which spanned 149 shows across 51 cities, five continents, and was the most attended tour of all time…” he then continued, saying, “Her last album, The Tortured Poets Department, set a record with 1.76 billion streams globally within the first week alone…” She has so many massive achievements! Her now fiancé, Travis Kelce, plays for the NFL team the Kansas City Chiefs as a tight end and has won three Super Bowls with them.
The couple originally met when Kelce attended one of Swift’s shows in 2023 and was completely mesmerized by her. He wanted to give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, but failed to get it to her, as he explained on his and his brother’s podcast New Heights. Rumors of a possible relationship started in the summer of 2023 when Swift made appearances at Kelce’s games and he at her concerts. This past summer, it was announced that Taylor would be joining in on the upcoming episode of the New Heights podcast, and fans were ecstatic.
In the episode, the couple talked about many hot topics revolving around Swift’s recent achievements and post-tour life, ending with the announcement of Swift’s 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which was released this October 3rd. While recording the podcast, Kelce had a team setting up a whimsical flower display in his backyard, where he later took Swift and proposed. A Ramapo student admired the lavish display, emphasizing, “Travis’s backyard was glittered by gorgeous greenery and flowers in their Instagram post.”
They announced their engagement on August 26th, 2025, via an Instagram post. Swift received a beautiful cushion-cut, gold diamond engagement ring. It was a custom commission, designed by Kelce in collaboration with a beloved jeweler of Swift’s. The album was recently released, and it has received some backlash for being so much more upbeat and less poetic than her last albums. However, Dr. Ross, an English teacher at Ramapo, stated “Her new album The Life of a Showgirl sounds like she’s very happy and in love.”
