Recently, Ramapo’s track team has been on fire! The team is carrying serious momentum into the 2026 spring season after a great winter season that redefined expectations.
The highlight comes from the girls’ squad, which achieved its first-ever Bergen County Winter Relays Championship—a milestone for the program. The title was sealed in dominant fashion, with Ramapo’s 4×400 relay team running 3:58, securing the win over Ridgewood. The relay team consisted of hardworking girls, including Sofia DeVincentis, Julia Mattioli, Bridget Cannon, and Sandra Vitolo. They all displayed their depth and closing strength under pressure.
Vitolo is committed to Cornell and plans to continue her track journey, as does Mattioli, who is committed to Emory.
A major driver of that success was the throwing group, led by Grace Gilbert and Cassie Bergstein. The duo delivered standout performances all season, finishing first at the Bergen County relays while also breaking the school record in shot put. Individually, both athletes earned statewide recognition, ranking fifth and sixth in New Jersey, further elevating Ramapo’s presence at the state level.

Grace Gilbert, an outstanding athlete, broke a school record in the shot put relay. She was also named North Jersey Female Athlete of the Week, as well as Performer of the Week on NJ.com. This highlights her impact not only on Ramapo but also on the entire state.
Lilly Mulhern, a friend of Gilbert, says, “Grace is an amazing athlete and role model. I learned so much from her and believe she deserves every award and title she gets. I can’t wait to see what she accomplishes and what other records she breaks. Good luck, Grace!”
On the boys’ side, the sprint medley relay team also made headlines. The team consists of four outstanding students: Ryan Ficarra, Andrew Inocencio, Jake Bernstein, and Zach Bernstein. After placing fourth at the County Relays, the group qualified for Nike Indoor Nationals, where they finished sixth in 3:41, setting a new school record!
Now, in the spring season, the team translates that indoor success into outdoor competition. Athletes are actively competing in meets throughout April, with strong showings in relays and open events, including 4×400. The focus has shifted towards consistency and progression as the team prepares for upcoming county and state championships.
