Ramapo’s done it again! The boy’s Varsity soccer team won the County Championship for the fifth consecutive year, a record-breaking streak that highlights their unmistakable skill and dominance. Their 2025 season was marked by dedication, resilience, and standout performances from players on the field. With their outstanding teamwork, the Raiders proved once again why they are the strongest team in the county.
Ramapo crushed Mahwah in the County quarterfinals with a score of 5-1. Mahwah scored the first goal less than four minutes in and led the score 1-0 at halftime. Nevertheless, Ramapo came back strong in the second half, scoring five unanswered goals in a row (northjersey.com). This incredible start to the County tournament showed the team’s undeniable determination and mental strength.
The semi-finals were just as impressive. The game was a complete shutout against Tenafly. One of the Senior Captains, Jordan Hunt, scored a “hat trick” – scoring three goals in one game. When asked to comment on the season, Hunt said, “It’s been a really collaborative effort between the coaches, players, and alumni to foster a winning environment and culture. We focus on the process and how we can improve as players and people day in and day out, and the results take care of themselves.” Hunt’s hat trick was highlighted in local “Player of the Week” coverage. In the game, Caden O’Connell and Julian Cuttita each scored one goal, and the game ended 5-0, earning the team a spot in the finals (northjersey.com).
The team went on to play a fantastic game in the finals against Bergen Catholic. Hosted at Indian Hills High School, Ramapo and Bergen students alike rallied at the chance to cheer on their schools. Senior Caden O’Connell scored both goals, assisted by seniors Brody Benner and Nick Didato. Senior goalie Julian Lora saved six goals, earning the shutout (onnj.com). The win gave Ramapo its fifth straight Bergen County title and its 18th all-time county championship. Not only that, the win also avenged their only loss of the season (to Bergen Catholic) with a 2-0 final score.
The team’s coach, Coach Baumgarten, said, “We are incredibly proud of our team and the remarkable attributes they display both on and off the field. Their ability to get along and support one another has fostered a strong sense of camaraderie, which is essential to our success. Each player contributes to a positive environment, helping their teammates grow and develop into the best players they can be on and off the field.”
The county tournament not only showcased Ramapo’s skill on the field, but it also highlighted the depth of its teamwork, leadership, and perseverance. With this team, the Raiders continue to build a legacy that future teams will look up to. One thing is for sure: our boys aren’t just winning games, they are setting a standard. And with the momentum of their victories, the Ramapo boys’ soccer team is far from finished.
