Ramapo has undergone a myriad of faculty changes this year. Mr. Daniel Guido, Assistant Principal alongside Ms. Mariette Ng, introduced himself to the student body in September but left us itching for more. Who is the man whose name now graces the Assistant Principal’s door?
A graduate of New York University and NOVA Southeastern University, where he received an undergraduate degree in Secondary Social Studies Education and a Masters in Educational Leadership respectively, Mr. Guido considers himself to be “a teacher of life with a speciality in educational leadership and administration.” After working as an Assistant Principal for twelve going on thirteen years, Mr. Guido already has nine years of experience in the FLOW District at Indian Hills, making him an ideal candidate. Despite only being at Ramapo for mere months, Mr. Guido has a vision for the future of our school: “A long term goal I have is to optimize the conditions of school so that students and teachers can always feel like they’re thriving and not just surviving. My short term goals are to decrease vaping and substance abuse, promote health and wellness, and to serve the school community as a trustworthy and dedicated Assistant Principal.” He also “hopes to strengthen the sense of mutual respect” in the Ramapo Community. According to Student Government President Maria Katsouris, “Mr. Guido is a great addition to Ramapo! After meeting with him a few times in regards to student government, it is clear that he quickly fit into the ways of our school and is motivated to improve our community to the best of his ability.” The best educators strive to improve the health, wellness, and happiness of their constituents rather than focusing solely on their academic track. Mr. Guido is among the best.
Always willing to accept advice and take various perspectives into account, Mr. Guido considers himself to be “a life-long learner” with “a love of labor when it comes to working with educators and students.” Malleable in that he is open to change and growth, Mr. Guido has already proven himself to be dedicated, compassionate, and thoughtful. A devoted family man, Mr. Guido is “happily married to Rosanne,” with whom he has five children: Darren, Jenna, Danny, Leah and Tyler.
