Ramapo’s spring track and field team delivered a standout performance at the State Sectional meet on the weekend of May 16th, 2025. After a long season of hard work and dedication, the results of this meet truly reflect the talent and drive of Ramapo’s spring track team as they embody what it means to be a Ramapo athlete.
Some of the biggest achievements that the group earned this past weekend include a girls victory in the Big North Freedom Division Championship, Bergen County Relays Championship (1st ever), Bergen County Championship, and North 1 Group 3 State Sectional Championship.
A special congratulations to the eight girls who were named 1st team-all county – Lauren Albino (junior), Bridget Cannon (sophomore), Sophia DeLorenzo (freshmen), Sofia DeVincentis (freshmen), Taylor Loia (junior), Kyra Magerko (junior), Julia Mattioli (junior), and Sandra Vitolo (junior). Coach Manzo, an English teacher at Ramapo and the head track coach for the winter and spring seasons, especially highlighted the triumphs of junior Sandra Vitolo and sophomore Bridget Cannon for receiving the Bergen Record Athlete of the Week in back-to-back weeks. Sandra Vitolo completed the triple crown at the N1G3 State Sectional Championship, where she followed her 400H win with a gold in the 100m hurdles and a gold in the long jump with a new school record jump of 18’17.25”! Bridget Cannon won the N1G3 State Sectional Championship 400m with a 56.73, reaching a new career best and upsetting the top seed, as well as earning 1st place in the 4×400! Meghan Prendergast, a junior at Ramapo High School and a 3-season track athlete shared, “Everyone on the team worked so hard in preparation for this meet. It was a great chance for everyone to shine and demonstrate their hard work after a long season of training and competing. I’m so proud of all of my fellow teammates!!” Meghan followed up her 30+ second PR in her 3200 race with a new personal best in the 1600m, placing 5th place at the N1G3 Sectional Championship. These girls, along with other members of the team, delivered a monumental performance.

The team was recently named Bergen County All Team of the Year. Coach Manzo summarized the excellence of this years team by stating, “This is the most complete team we have ever had at Ramapo, with scoring coming from all track events and all field events and with the benefit of having multiple scorers in each. We have had some incredible individuals in the past, but this current group not only has standouts, but are all also about team success. We currently lead Bergen County in multiple event areas and have multiple top ten individuals and relays as well.”
This year’s Spring Sectional Meet is truly a highlight for the 2025 spring track season. Since then, Coach Manzo has been voted Coach of the Year and the team was voted Bergen County Team of the Year. At the State Meet, Bridget Cannon earned 5th place with a new school record on the 800m, Sandra Vitolo earned 5th place on the 100m Hurdles, and Julia Mattioli, Kyra Magerko, Sofia Devencentis, and Bridget Cannon earned 6th place on the 4×400 relay with a new school record. Congratulations on continuing to make Ramapo proud, girls!
