The Ramapo Girls Golf team has had an extremely successful season breaking records and taking home wins this year! Having an already successful season last year with the leadership from Coach Lawler, the girls were ready to take on the season with great stamina, resilience, and hard work!
The team with a final season record of 10-2 victories upheld their season goals of excelling throughout the last couple of months and coming out on top is a great representation of what the Ramapo, school and athletic community is all about.
Junior Reese Fishman stated, “My favorite part about being on the girls golf team is the hard work and dedication everyone on the team has to improve their own games while having fun and bonding as a team. We help cheer each other on and make practices fun!” She highlighted that while they are competitive and focused, the tram enjoys making the most of being together and representing Ramapo collectively.
Reese Fishman with an outstanding final score of 76 for 18 holes brought home Ramapo’s first ever State Sectional Championship victory at Stanton Ridge Golf and Country Club on May 5th.
Head Coach Lawler, being there for each and every player along the way, enjoyed watching the big and small successes for every individual on the team. He said, “The 2025 season was one of great success. We not only won a State championship, as a program all of the girls’ scoring averages dropped. So growth throughout the years.”
Reese went on to say, “Breaking records and making history as a team was an incredible experience and showed that all of our hard work paid off…even in the rain!”
Beating rivals IHA and Ridgewood, ending their undefeated season was also a big celebratory moment for the team as a whole.
Apart from team victories, individual victories were also celebrated for each player on the team. Junior Bella Levison hit an all time personal low of 44 as the 6th seed in a match against Haworth. “As a team, we set a record for our season low and we all made such progress. I’m really proud of the overall team atmosphere and bonds we’ve continued to strengthen” said Bella in an interview.
Skylar Lee, a junior on the team also contributed to leading the team to victory throughout the season. She said, “My favorite part about being on the golf team is the fact that everyone supports each other. Some particular moments that stood out to me were the conversations I had with my teammates. I loved getting to know them on a deeper level and really just appreciating the moment and playing with them. It was nice to have someone to talk to and work together as a team.”
With an emphasis on the team comradery and overall support shown to each other, their strengthened bond allowed the team to collectively succeed in every match and challenge that came their way.
“It’s hard to find a group at the high school that truly enjoyed being around each other as much as this group. Having a girl around that couldn’t even play because she was injured, taking an active role with the team shows how much they love what we are doing as a program. Makes me as a coach feel great about what I am doing.” said Coach Lawler.
