Tate McRae takes over our hallways!
On February 21, 2025, Canadian pop star Tate McRae released her most recent album, So Close to What. With 15 new featured songs, Tate McRae is influencing the lives of many Ramapo students. From waking up in the morning to walking through the halls, Tate always plays with someone’s phone. Many students admire her for her beauty, singing, or dancing. In 2025, she initiated the Miss Possessive Tour, where she plans on visiting countless cities across three countries (tatemcrae.com).
Many TikTok and Instagram users are familiar with “Greedy,” one of Tate McRae’s most well-known songs. With the trendiest line, “Obvious that you want me, but I said…I would want myself .” (Greedy) This line, unlike the rest, changes the point of view of women who previously craved male attention and modifies it by channeling their aura into empowerment.
Ramapo Junior Noa Sued is one of the many Tate McRae fans. She comments, “I got the chance to go to one of Tate McRae’s concerts back on August 22nd of 2024. It was life-changing. It was one of the absolute best concerts that I have ever gone to. With good vibes throughout Madison Square Garden, I sang my heart out to each song I knew.” Singing alongside Tate during the Think Later world tour was a life-changing experience for Noa and countless others here at Ramapo.
Mrs. Basilicato, Ramapo’s Health and Driver’s Ed teacher, is one of the many supportive fans of Tate McRae. Driven by the voice of Tate McRae, Mrs. Basilicato was willing to share some of her thoughts regarding this new pop singer: “If it weren’t for my daughter Julia’s constant need to be on aux, I would have never gotten the chance to hear this new pop artist, Tate McRae. I admire her phenomenal dancing and singing, and have slowly become a superfan. Which led me to purchase tickets for the Miss Possessive Tour held in October.“
Many classmates have already gone to watch her perform live or are planning to soon. The only question is, will you be going?
